A Boston roadshow day is eight to ten meetings, four neighbourhoods, and no margin for a car that is not already waiting. ALVE Limousine provides full-day as-directed chauffeur service for investor roadshows, non-deal roadshows, and analyst marketing days — one vehicle, one chauffeur, one invoice, for the whole day.
Why roadshows are booked as-directed, never point-to-point
Roadshow schedules move. A meeting at a Federal Street fund runs fifteen minutes long, the Back Bay slot shifts, and the Kendall Square stop gets dropped. If every leg is a separate booking, someone on the team is managing dispatch instead of managing the day.
As-directed hire removes that. The chauffeur holds the vehicle for the block you reserve, stages within a few minutes of the current meeting, and moves when you move. The IR lead has one phone number for the entire day.
What that looks like in practice
- The car waits, you don't. Between meetings the chauffeur stages near the building rather than circling or returning to base.
- The schedule can change mid-day. Add a stop, drop one, extend the block — no rebooking, no surge, no renegotiation.
- The vehicle is a working space. Quiet cabin, phone calls uninterrupted, materials left in the car between stops.
- Discretion is the baseline. Deal conversations happen in the back seat. That is precisely why firms stop using rideshare for this work.
A typical Boston roadshow day
Boston's buy-side is not in one place, and the geography drives the timing more than the calendar does.
| Segment | What matters |
|---|---|
| Early arrival — Logan or Hanscom to the hotel | Private aviation arrivals at Hanscom Field meet at the FBO ramp. Commercial arrivals into Logan are met inside the terminal, not at the curb. |
| Morning block — Financial District | Post Office Square, Federal Street, Franklin Street. Meetings sit within a few blocks of each other, so the constraint is standing time, not drive time. |
| Midday — Back Bay | Boylston and Berkeley Street addresses. Fifteen minutes from the Financial District off-peak, considerably more once Storrow and the Pike back up. |
| Afternoon — Seaport and Kendall Square, Cambridge | Life-science and tech meetings. Kendall adds the Longfellow or Zakim crossing; build in real time for it, not optimistic time. |
| Departure — back to Logan | From the Seaport the Ted Williams Tunnel is short. From Back Bay at 5pm it is not. The last leg is the one worth padding. |
Days that extend to the Route 128 corridor — Waltham, Burlington, Lexington — need an hour built in each direction. There is no rail option, and a rideshare will not reliably find a return fare from a suburban office park.
Rates and how the billing works
Roadshow work is quoted hourly, as-directed. The rate you are quoted is the rate you are billed — no event surcharge, no dynamic pricing.
| Vehicle | Hourly rate | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Executive sedan | $85 per hour | One to three: CEO, CFO, IR lead |
| Luxury SUV | $110 per hour | Four to six, or a team travelling with materials and luggage |
A 15% administrative fee is added to the hourly total, covering dispatch, chauffeur gratuity, and vehicle preparation. Minimum reservation is two hours per vehicle. Tolls and parking are passed through at cost.
A full nine-hour roadshow day works out to roughly $880 in a sedan or $1,139 in an SUV, all in. That is one line on one invoice for the entire day, rather than a dozen separate charges to reconcile.
For the IR team and accounts payable
- Monthly consolidated invoicing — itemised by date, passenger, and cost centre if that is how you allocate.
- Net-30 terms on established corporate accounts.
- Certificate of insurance issued on request, naming your entity as your vendor onboarding requires.
- No card at the door. Visiting executives are never asked to pay or tip.
Multiple teams, multiple vehicles
Roadshows frequently split — the CEO takes one track, the CFO another. Multi-vehicle days are coordinated as a single reservation with one lead contact and one invoice. ALVE operates its own fleet and supplements it through a vetted affiliate network for larger movements, holding the same vehicle and chauffeur standard throughout.
Conference season
Boston hosts a steady rotation of investor conferences, and the surrounding days are usually heavier than the conference itself — teams stack one-on-ones around the formal agenda. Healthcare and life-science conferences in particular fill the city's car supply well in advance.
If your team is building a schedule around a conference date, book the vehicle when the date is confirmed rather than when the agenda is final. The agenda always changes; as-directed hire absorbs that, but only if the vehicle is reserved.
Where we operate
Our work originates from or arrives into Greater Boston. Within that frame we cover all of New England and the surrounding states, New York and New Jersey included — useful when a roadshow runs Boston to New York across two days rather than flying the leg.

Booking a roadshow
Roadshow days are arranged by phone or email, because the details decide the plan. Call +1 (617) 440-2174 or send the date, the number of passengers, and the rough shape of the day — first pickup, last drop, and which neighbourhoods are involved. We come back with a plan and a quote.
For firms that run roadshows regularly, we set up a corporate account so the IR team or executive assistant can book without re-establishing terms each time.
Common questions
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as the date is confirmed, even if the meeting list is not. The schedule can change freely inside an as-directed reservation; vehicle availability during conference weeks cannot.
What if the day runs longer than we reserved?
The chauffeur stays. Additional time is billed at the same hourly rate, in the same increment. There is no penalty rate and no scramble to rebook.
Can the same chauffeur cover a multi-day visit?
Yes, and we recommend it. By the second day the chauffeur knows the addresses, the entrances, and how your team prefers to move. Request continuity when you book.
Do you handle private aviation arrivals?
Yes. Hanscom Field and the Logan FBOs are routine for us. Send the tail number and the FBO and we coordinate to wheels-down rather than to a scheduled time.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance?
Yes, on request, naming your entity as your vendor requirements specify. Most firms need this once during onboarding rather than per booking.
Are gratuities extra?
No. The 15% administrative fee covers chauffeur gratuity. Visiting executives are never asked for anything.
Can you run a Boston to New York leg by road?
Yes, provided the itinerary starts or ends in Greater Boston. For a team that would otherwise lose half a day to airports, the drive is often the faster option door to door.
